South Carolina Djs In Brief

By Teri Farley

When most people think about South Carolina Djs, the first thing that comes to their minds is parties and more parties. While there is some truth in this belief, this is just one side of being a disk jockey. There is much more to being a deejay than attending every party and having fun. Here is a look at the nature of this industry.

First of all, anyone who thinks that this profession is meant for men only is very wrong. A majority of deejays may be male, but this does not in any way mean that only men are good with turntables. In recent times, there has been an increase in the number of female Djs in the entertainment industry. They tend to attract larger crowds than their male counterparts. Perhaps because they are seen as having ventured into a male dominated line of work.

There is a great misconception amongst many people that a deejay can only work in a night club. While it is true that this is perhaps the greatest employment avenue for these professionals, it is worth noting that there are other ways through which they make money. Some of these include making appearances at wedding ceremonies, private birthday parties and even office events. There are those deejays who are never stationed in a particular club. They are more like the freelancers of the deejay world.

The private performances are known to pay better than having a regular job at a night club. These professionals also stand to make huge incomes through advertising. Just like any other showbiz personality, deejays command a large following. This following forms a great target market for corporate entities looking to advertise their products. Such endorsement deals are perhaps the greatest avenue for income generation for a deejay.

It is not all fun and games when it comes to working as a disk jockey. Deejays make their job look very easy and fun. What they do not show is the other side of it which calls for great sacrifice. In this line of work, going for several nights without sleep is the norm. Going for weeks without seeing family members is quite usual. This is especially true for the most popular disk jockeys.

The frequent traveling can have a great negative impact on the family life of a disk jockey. He or she will rarely get to spend time with the kids for example. A father may not always be there for his son and this can really affect the child. The bottom line here is that an individual who joins the deejay world should be ready and willing to face the consequences of this decision. He or she should be careful not to get lost in the job at the expense of family relationships.

Luckily for deejays today, they are looked at in somewhat positive light. In the past, these professionals were seen as academic dwarfs looking for an easy way of making money. Most parents would be skeptical about letting their children pursue their dreams of becoming deejays.

The situation today is different. South Carolina Djs are seen as professionals in their own right. There are even Dj academies dedicated to training those who have the desire to join this line of work.
