The Virginia Common Core Implementation And Research Addresses The Declining Quality Of The Education System

By Coleen Torres

Recent studies on the quality of education in American schools exposes apprehensive information on existing course curriculum. Implementation of an improved and uniform Virginia Common Core is necessary. According to the national systems architect, David Colman, a research study throughout the world reveals that American students are taught too many subjects with superficial knowledge.

Mr. David Colman, the national system's architect, expressed his opinion in a gathering in Norfolk. He says that a research study all over the world shows that American students are taught too many subjects superficially. He suggested fewer, higher, and clearer standards.

Parents are also the key decision makers for this curriculum. Complaints were received from some of them regarding the poor quality of English and mathematics in the current system. In some schools, teachers avoid teaching specific classes on English grammar or parts of speech, and assign writing articles using different styles and genres.

A lot of parents complain that children are not taught basic grammar rules. However, assignments are assigned to explore different writing genres and style. It is difficult for a student to keep up with this type of assignment if he doesn't have any exposure on how to analyze sentence structure or different parts of speech.

Apart from the requirement of in-depth studies, a new course is also required to maintain uniformity across the country. In mobile American families, children need to be able to adapt to a new course curriculum when their parents relocate to new cities for job assignments. They face tremendous shock from new environments, new teachers, and new and unknown course material.

Parents often shift to different cities for better job opportunities in this day and age. This creates frustrations among children, since they need to follow a different and often more difficult curriculum in their new schools. If they aren't able to adjust to these new requirements, they lose interest in their studies.

For the successful implementation of the common course, parents' participation is most welcome. They may obtain details of the course from authorities, and evaluate its benefits and analyze the features critically. Effective criticism will add value to the course, and children will benefit from them in the long run.

In order to implement the courses designed for the common core, parents' participation and encouragement is essential. In case they differ with the common core curriculum, they can participate in thorough discussion with the implementing authorities, or join the discussion forums. However, before coming to a method, they need to be up-to-date with the existing teaching practices and the pros and cons.

The importance of the implementation of the common curriculum can further be emphasized, as employers believe that American students lack analytical capabilities compared to their foreign counterparts. This is reflected by the vast number of graduated students entering low key jobs. Naturally, the better and higher level jobs are being taken by foreigners with better skills.

Most students find low key jobs at the end of their education. However, the need for a competitive curriculum is gaining more and more attention. The course should be at par, or beyond the level of the world standards to allow the students to gain proper respect for their knowledge.
