What It Is Like To Be Part Of The Lutheran Church

By Kristen Baird

Governed by faith and molded by the Christian belief, it sure feels wonderful to walk in the light of Jesus. While many have been mystified by His existence, others simply think of Him as a mere myth with whom the weak draws strength in times of crisis. Questions of His divinity and grace have been all over but what is there to ask when His love for mankind has been manifested for years? Today, more and more people have become less religious, and worse, many are becoming non-believers especially in developed countries.

So far, Christianity is considered as the biggest religion and Protestantism is one of the oldest denominations. Being part of this discipleship is something that brings uncontained happiness to someone who has been ruled by the religious conviction formulated in Christianity although there are critical values of the religion that are disregarded subtly over the years by the new generations. Even so, church leaders have enthusiastically tried to revive the lost values by means of executing programs upon which the Lutheran church Wilmington actively gets involved.

Lutheranism was established by an Augustinian Order friar, Martin Luther, who later became the Father of the Reformation. Lutheranism is patterned to the principles and practices of Catholic Church. Baptism has been an essential part of such religious movement, and thus, believing adults as well as infants are needed to be baptized.

Anyway, for individuals who wish to help retain the values of Jesus through gathering the lost flock, it would be a wise idea to become teachers in Sunday schools. Besides, these are so much easier than any regular schools. Volunteer teachers do not need to prepare daily quizzes for the students nor send them to school educational trips where lessons are better explained.

Catechism is fun. Students will not only be introduced to God's divinity, they will also have plenty of chance to make great friends around. And what could be more exciting than knowing not just the spiritual aspects of life but how to make this more interesting through becoming part of a bigger group?

There must be plenty of churches out there that need more volunteers. The odd is, interested parties might be required to serve some extra hours if necessary. Volunteers, however, will be asked for their most preferred time before both parties agree about the volunteer job.

There will be initial background investigation upon application but applicants need not worry about it. If they have nothing to hide, then nothing can get in their way. This, however, requires them to be members of the church. If not, it does not necessarily restrict them from becoming one.

Being a volunteer is not about being tied up with every religious activity. It is necessary to know that a volunteer is there to serve his community rather than the priests in raising money for the sake of themselves. They can if they wish to, though.

Volunteering to teach is different from going on a mission. Individuals interested only in the Sunday school are not required to go out where they can spread the world of God better. And besides, they need the consent of the ministry before they can be anywhere.
