The Need For A Parenting Plan For Child Custody

By Kevin Walker

Nowadays we keep hearing of divorces left, right and center. The beautiful family set up is slowly crumbling. The most fragile piece of the family tree, the child, is left trying to hold the pieces together. If keeping a couple together is close to impossible the next move should involve a parenting plan for child custody. This is simply to ensure the children are considered.

Being a child with divorced parents is really difficult. Especially since this is not something a young frail mind can process. It is even worse when some parents put their kids in a situation whereby they have to take sides. That is usually a passive aggressive move against the other party. Children get emotionally bruised in these instances.

With all the craziness that comes with divorce, children need not be forgotten. That is what this plan is all about. Every aspect of their lives is considered. This kind of paperwork is a requirement in court among those planning to divorce. At times those involved can decide the manner in which things will be handled. If the judge agrees to their plan then everything will be final.

Those who do not intend to go for a hearing have a lot of work on their shoulders. There is simply so much that they need to figure out. Dealing with two working parents means they need to balance between work and family time. They need to split their time or try and figure out what will work best for both of them, something that may not be easy.

Decisions at this point need to become made in unison. A difference in opinion must be handled maturely. At this point, the parents are at their most vulnerable and t kids will be watching. Agreements need to be made when the children are on breaks. They need to be kept busy doing fun activities or anything else that can be beneficial.

There will be disputes along the way. The child may do some wrong and it is up to both parents to sit together and decide on the best way to discipline the kid. The challenge comes when one decide son being lenient while the other prefers a more stern approach. Both of them may have to compromise a little in different situations to help their child to school.

Another thing to be considered is the schooling of the children. Parents must know what is going on in the school lives of their kids. This includes how they are performing. This information has to become made available. Children that go to a day school may want to be picked up every other day. An arrangement should be made so that both parties are involved in this.

The worst thing for children to deal with is when their parents are not together. They may not be able to take this in but some of these changes may help. They need to see their parents still caring for them and still involved in their lives. The best way to do this is through this kind of arrangement where no stone is left unturned.
