Sporting events are a great way that for friends and families to spend time together while enjoying something really exciting. Though individual games are fun, if you want to see all your favorites, an event like the NBA All-Star Game is what you should go for. With the All Star Weekend Schedule 2017 released, you can start planning for it now.

The events will be held over three days at the Time Warner Cable Arena. This is the place where the Charlotte Hornets play, so it is already set up to give fans the ultimate in great basketball action. This is the first time that Charlotte has played host to the NBA All Star Game in over 25 years. In fact, 1991 was the last time that the weekend of fun was held there.

Friday, the 17th of February is the first official day of events. The big draw is the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge. This is a game where the best rookie and sophomore layers from the US are pitted against the best rookies and sophomores born in foreign countries. There is always lots of fun rivalry and national pride on display.

If you have a favorite legend that you never got to see in person growing up, then perhaps the Degree Shooting Stars Game is for you. It features famous players of yesteryear from both the NBA and WNBA going against each other in a fun competition for the fans. This is the event that helps kick off the Saturday, February 18 All-Star weekend festivities.

In addition to the Shooting Stars, fans can expect to enjoy the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, which features the best ball handlers from around the league, many of them guards or point guards. They dribble their way around an obstacle course to try and win fame and glory. There is also the Three-Point contest, which allows the best sharpshooters to face off in a timed competition. No weekend would be complete without the famous Slam Dunk Contest, where future Michael Jordans of the league face off.

On Sunday, February 18, 2017 comes the big event, the All-Star Game. First though, Sprint puts on a pregame concert, with the cats yet to be announced. After the concert comes the game, which pits the best and most popular players in the Western Conference against those from the Eastern Conference.

The NBA has their own Developmental League, called the D-League for short, that allows players to get experience before taking the leap into the NBA. There are several D-League events held across the city over the three days, including a Dream Factory and their very own All-Star Game, though they are not held in the same arena as the other events.

The weekend would not be complete without parties, of course. There will be several official party events across the city, and of course a few that are unofficial. Many fans also throw their own viewing parties at home to watch the action with friends and family. No matter how you watch the festivities though, it is always a fun time for fans of the NBA.
