Contributing To A Good Sierra Leone Charity

By Rebecca Stevens

Giving is one of the greatest virtues. It is just as great as the virtue of love. Those who have love in their hearts will readily give to those who are in dire need. The world needs more givers. It is through giving that the state of humanity is improved. Billions of people all over the world are in dire need. People are suffering from poverty, hunger, illiteracy, dirty water, and war among other things. The reason for the existence of a Sierra Leone charity is to reduce suffering in the society. It is bad when people suffer.

There is a lot that has been said about Sierra Leone. Those who closely follow the news might have heard about this small African country that is located in West Africa. When there was the Ebola outbreak, this nation was greatly affected because of the poor health facilities. Sierra Leone has been made unstable by unending wars and conflicts.

Contributing to charitable organizations should be the order of the day. If every person on earth who has means makes just a little contribution, the state of humanity will improve: there will be no hungry children in Africa or hopeless refugees in Asia. Humans have the capacity to improve the condition of other humans. Humans have all the solutions. It is only implementation that is needed.

One of the major Global Millennium Goals of the 21st Century is poverty elimination. This should be the century that sees the end of poverty. As a matter of fact, poverty is a major global problem. In some countries such as Sierra Leone, it is a national epidemic. Even in America, one can still see the ugly face of poverty.

As a matter of fact, poverty needs to be a thing of the past. It should be something that people read in history books or see in the museums. That will only be the case when charity work is given the seriousness it deserves. One can directly engage in this work. Alternatively, one can contribute to the various charitable organizations.

One can contribute to a charity in cash. There is no amount of money that is too small to contribute. An individual should contribute according to his financial capability. It is enough to contribute even a single dollar if that is the money that one can afford. Those who have means need to make substantial contributions. Giving is good.

If a person is not in a position to give cash, there are other ways that he can help. There is giving in kind. This involves a number of issues. One can contribute clothes that he is not using to those who do not have clothes. That can be done through a trusted charitable organization. Giving in kind is also great.

One should not give to the first organization that he comes across. On one hand, there are good charitable organizations. On the other hand, there are bad ones. There is the need to make a distinction between the two. For that to be the case, a person will need to do his homework. Online research will come in handy.
