Details About The Spousal Sponsorship Brampton Program

By Linda Cole

For those who have decided to marry a Canadian but is from another country, there is a special program that the government offers in order to bring the spouse to Canada without much trouble. This is known as the spousal sponsorship brampton program and it is targeted to those who want to go to Canada because they want to be with their Canadian spouse. For those interested in it, here are a few things to know about this program.

Now, the first thing to know about this program is that it is a rather complicated process even though it sounds simple. It is a program wherein the Canadian citizen will be able to make his or her spouse a citizen of the country. The tricky part would be that there is a certain criteria that the couple will have to follow if they want to push through.

The very first criterion would be that the spouse who is Canadian has to be either a recognized citizen or a permanent resident and has to be at least eighteen years of age. Second, he or she has to show that he or she can provide the sponsorship by giving records of income, assets and other things. This criterion will also cover not being a recipient of financial assistance from the government at all.

Finally, one must not have any type of criminal record as per the government. If one has a record of a violent crime or sexual related offense, then most likely the application will already be denied. Also, chance of the application passing will go down if one has a history of conviction or imprisonment.

Now that the criteria has already been discussed, the next thing to know would be other facts about the program. It is important to note that the program not only reaches out to married couples but also to citizens who have fiances that are foreigners. This is known as a common law relationship wherein the couple has to prove that they are in a very serious engagement and will marry soon.

However, applying is really not that simple because it entails the couple proving that they are in a relationship or married. This entails photos, text messages, and testimonials that have existed in a one year period. For those who are married, further proof may be needed such as a marriage certificate, joint accounts, shared households, and more.

Another question that is commonly asked by a lot of people would be whether same sex couples are recognized. The good news is that yes, same sex couples are recognized so long as they can show proof of their relationship just like the heterosexual couples do. The same terms are extended to both same sex married couples as well as same sex common law partners.

For those who are applying for the program, take note that it is a long process. There will be errors at the start that need a lot of correcting so the whole process may take months. But if true love really waits, then it is worth the wait.
