How To Make Wall Crosses

By Lana Bray

Wall crosses are one of the most beautiful decorations that one may put in his room or house regardless of religion. A lot of people who love decorative crosses would often go to a shop and buy one of these things but the problem will arise when they see the bill for it. So if one would want a cheaper alternative, then this guide will allow him to make a wall cross at the comfort of his own home.

So before one would start with the entire process of creating the cross, he would first have to get hold of all the materials. In order to make this thing, one will need to get two small planks of wood, a saw, some newspapers, and some cans of spray paints. Now if one would want to add some other things like extra accessories and decorations, he can do that later.

The first step in whole process would be to connect the two wooden planks together in order to make the wood cross. To do this, cut a portion of the longer plank so that the smaller plank can fit inside. In order to stick it, either use some wood glue or tie the middle with an old looking rope.

Once the wooden cross has already been made, the next step would be to put some spray paint on it. First, lay the newspaper on the floor and place the cross there. The newspaper will allow the artist to paint the cross without getting any stains on his floor.

In this part of the process, one may now allow his artistic juices to start flowing out of his head. This part will involve putting some fancy accessories and decorations on the cross like beads, pearls, or just plain glass shards. The decorating of the cross will solely depend on the taste preference of the maker whether he would want something bright or something simple.

Once he has chosen which decorations he would want for the cross, then he should get the super glue and paste it all over the the wood planks. If one would want, he may also use some wood glue as this may be more effective with regard to stickiness and durability. Take note that one should be very careful with these kinds of glues because they can burn the skin if in contact.

The last step would be to add another extra coating of paint on to the decorations so that the stains of glue will not be seen by anyone. Now when putting this final coating, always remember to avoid putting a thick coating because it can cover the decorations. So just put the right amount of paint so that it will look nice and attractive.

So for those who are interested in creating one of these wall crosses as decorations, then follow these few steps. If one would want to skip the first step of putting the planks together, then he may just run down to the store and buy a cross that is ready made. From there, then he can continue the steps that are being mentioned earlier.
