Does Michigan allow that? Of course they do. It's called spousal support or alimony. It's the same word basically. So, yes, so I definitely want to know is there a possibility of one party or the other side getting spousal support.
Another element that comes into play is the property the family lives in another property that is owned by the couple. This can throw a monkey wrench in a divorce and make it more difficult. Especially when the economy which is tanked for so long sees most homes value decline. Who was out and who stays or who keeps the house can be touchy. So what's the best way to handle it is important in any divorce proceeding. One thing to keep in mind is that the financial institution that holds your mortgage, may be willing to accept the property and take it off your hands.
